  • Sometimes there are pressing family matters that an employee has to attend to. In this case, the employee can apply for family leave. It is also sometimes known as compassionate leave.

 

  • This leave is granted to an employee when it is necessary for the he/she to attend to immediate family issues, including funerals for their spouse, child, father, mother, brother or sister.

 

  • Family leave is paid leave, which can be taken for up to a maximum of five days in each working year. 

 

  • However, for an employee to get family or compassionate leave, he/she has to write a letter to their employer.
