Public Holidays

  • Each of the public holidays listed in Botswana shall be a paid public holiday.

 

  • Where a paid public holiday falls on a rest day (for example, a Sunday),  the day following the rest day shall be a paid public holiday.

 

  • Any employee who works on a paid public holiday shall be paid at least double the wages he or she would have been paid had the day been an ordinary working day; or be granted a paid day off within 10 days immediately thereafter.

 

  • Any employer who contravenes this section shall be guilty of an offence and liable to penalties.
